Or Every Screen Has a Silver Lining<\/h4>\n

I\u2019ve always wanted to be king of a castle.
\nAdmittedly, it\u2019s not a popular category in the \u201cHelp Wanted\u201d section, and such opportunities are limited. So, when Cerigo Films<\/a> came with the idea of a short documentary on Leo Schnug and the castle of Haut-Koeningsbourg, I thought well, this is about as close as I\u2019m likely ever to get.<\/p>\n

Haut-Koenigsbourg<\/a> itself is a fascinating place, and Leo Schnug<\/a>, the ill-fated painter and illustrator who decorated the banquet hall, is a tragic figure singularly emblematic of his time. Moreover, he is largely unknown, even in his native Alsace.<\/p>\n

Of course I accepted the role of narrator, in exchange for a temporary stewardship of the High Castle of the King, and to shed a little light on the life and work of a remarkable illustrator. And of course, it\u2019s about much more than quarried sandstone and painted plaster; it\u2019s all about history and myth, and how we are continually building one upon the other.<\/p>\n

But, if you\u2019ve been following my dreamy, disconnected and slightly random newsletters, you know all that. What\u2019s new is the trailer<\/a> that Cerigo Films kindly put together for the site.<\/p>\n

The film will be aired on ARTE<\/a> Sunday March 4 at 8:15 p.m.
\nIt will also be shown on FRANCE 3 ALSACE this autumn. (Exact date and time will follow.)
\nAnd, last but not least:
\n\u201cLe Seigneur du Ch\u00e2teau\u201d will be premiering in Strasbourg on February 13th at the auditorium of the Ecole des Arts D\u00e9coratifs, 1 rue de l\u2019Academie, Strasbourg.<\/p>\n
